2016

5th August - The Telegraph, The 50 best shows to see at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival and Fringe
Nish Kumar, James Acaster, Tom Allen and Bec Hill are among the big-name comics giving up an hour of their time to bring comedy to the juvenile masses; an inspired idea, this, of a nursery-slope club event, and it’s almost always of equal delight for parents too.

Some approving quotes, from the venues and people we work with.
  • "G Live is delighted with our relationship with Comedy Club 4 Kids, who work with our young people and their families in a consistently innovative, respectful and laugh-out-loud way." - Jo Wright, Guildford G Live's  Creative Learning Manager
  • "My daughter has learned so much in terms of performing, how to tell a story concisely, how to think on her feet, and, above all, self confidence, through attending Comedy Club for Kids. It's the best thing she's ever done and, as a parent, I am so grateful that she found you. She has realised the validity of her original ideas, and has found a unique way to share her personal experiences through comedy. Comedy Club for Kids magically gives a strong voice to the kids who aren't natural loudmouths. Thank you, also, for all the laughter!" - A parent of one of our Soho workshop attendees

12th August (of 11th August show) - Fest Magazine (4 stars)
A festival mainstay for 10 years now, the always worthwhile Comedy Club 4 Kids should be on the schedule of any self-respecting, chuckle-loving young Fringegoer. It does exactly what it says on the tin, giving pre-teens a chance to sample the raucous, taboo-challenging, free-wheeling atmosphere of a good comedy club without any (really) rude words, adult material, or heavy drinking (unless you count Fruit Shoots).... An essential treat.

29th May (of 23rd May show) - The Cotswold Blog
Both kids had an absolute blast, belly-laughing for a whole hour and getting that exact same wonderful comedy experience adults get where you cry with laughter till it almost hurts… FAB-U-LOUS!

22nd June (of 21st June show) - The Yorkshire Times
All U rated of course, and all absolutely hilarious...This show is a great format for introducing children to the worlds of comedy, cabaret, theatre and live music. Short enough to keep younger minds focused, varied enough to ensure there's something for everyone, and participative enough to keep the adults on their toes. Definitely one to watch out for.

The Comedy Club 4 Kids organisation has done sterling work in bringing stand-up to children in the form of shows and workshops.

A solid afternoon’s entertainment can be found here. Perhaps the stars of the future will be too.

22nd August - Three Weeks (4 stars)

28th September - BuzzfeedUK
Heckling, at an adult comedy gig, can be poisonously disruptive. At Comedy Club 4 Kids gigs, it is often bonkers, and one of the things that makes playing to children both unnerving for the acts, and a delight.

4th December - The Independent
Comedy Club 4 Kids has stand-up sets from grown-up, high-quality acts like John Robins, Stu Goldsmith and Nish Kumar, who perform their usual sets, just without the swearing or rude bits.

22nd July - Chortle Top 10 Children's Shows with Comedians
This is probably the daddy of them all. The kids’ show that almost a decade ago challenged the big and brash primary-colour clowning of most kids’ shows to present proper circuit comics, but without the rude bits. - Chortle

6th August - BBC Article
Tiernan Douieb, a comedian who runs Comedy Club 4 Kids, says: "There are an awful lot of stand-ups that are, like myself, very childish. And we get to have an audience where we can do our silliest, most ridiculous material without any cynicism or groans." - BBC

6th August - Broadway Baby (4 stars)
"We were treated to a side splitting hour of stand-up… There was no compromise in the quality of the stand up and the brilliant thing was that the comedians didn't patronise the kids." - Broadway Baby

9th August - Fest Magazine (5 stars)
"really funny" - Fest

14th August - Edinburgh Guide (4 stars)
"Having delivered funny stuff for 6-plus’s to laugh at for nearly a decade at the Fringe, Comedy Club 4 Kids is now a well-established, must-see item on most children’s Festival wish-list." - Edinburgh Guide

24th August - The Daily Telegraph (4 stars)
"The ethos is just right" - The Telegraph

2012

15th August - Fest Magazine (5 stars)
"Go see this show and you'll have sore cheeks from laughing." - Fest

16th August - ScotsGay (4 stars)
"There was enough on this occasion for all to enjoy. Crucially, despite the absence of rude material, this did not feel like a watered down comedy show – the acts don’t give the feeling of having strained to come up with stuff appropriate for children. It’s a lovely, natural atmosphere and a good family afternoon out." - ScotsGay
